Add a Splash of Colour to Your White

How To / November 23,2013

White is a versatile colour. Not only does it complement every other possible colour, it gives the impression of having a clean, open space. Yet too much white can make a room feel clinical and cold. To create the perfect white-based space, experts from Interior Design4 had these easy tips:

  • Always have a universal style of furniture -Whether it be modern, classic or contemporary, your decor should all be of the same style.
  • Choose accent colours - These may be two complementary colours such as red and black, or it may be various shades of the same colour.
  • A coffee table as a focal point - A steel and glass-topped table fits well with the modern theme, while a wooden glass-topped table would look great if you're going with a classic look.
  • Use contrasting decorations and art on the walls to break up the monotony of plain white - Try and keep the accent colours to a minimum so as to not overwhelm the senses.
  • Coloured throw cushions and rugs are a fantastic (and fairly cheap) way to introduce colour to a white space.
