Sofa design has traditionally been confined to the straight, contemporary lines of the Ikea sofa or the over sized, country style sofa. However the curved sofa is now making a (small) comeback. With contemporary design now being more readily accessible to the mainstream of society, via mass-market stores, innovative sofa designs are no longer confined to the pages of interior design magazines.
While they may not be suitable for every space, there has been a notable resurgence of the curved sofa. Their popularity does not come at the expense of linear sofas, however, which will always be popular due to the wide range of styling options available. Placement is the key to success with a curved furniture piece. It can be particularly effective when confined to a small niche of a home, or can invite conversation as a statement piece positioned in the centre of a room. With styles ranging from 'new traditional' to retro and classic styles that are usually on a smaller scale they are versatile enough to be featured in any number of rooms.
