Material Characteristics & Warranty Exclusions
Living Unlimited uses a range of premium materials in the construction of its furniture. Each material possesses natural characteristics that contribute to its unique aesthetic, texture, and durability. These characteristics are not considered defects and do not qualify for warranty claims.
Customers are encouraged to review the information below to understand the expected variations and properties of each material before purchasing. The below list is not exhaustive.
Powder-Coated Aluminium
Natural Characteristics
- Colour & Texture Variation – Slight variations in colour, sheen, and texture may occur between different batches.
- Minor Surface Blemishes – Small imperfections may be present due to the powder-coating process.
- Abrasion Resistance – While durable, minor scratches and scuff marks may develop over time.
- Colour Fastness – UV exposure may result in gradual fading, which is not considered a defect.
- Scent – A mild odour may be present due to coating and curing processes.
Anodised Aluminium
Natural Characteristics
- Colour & Texture Variation – Anodisation can produce slight variations in finish.
- Surface Blemishes – Minor markings and textural inconsistencies may occur due to the manufacturing process.
- Hard Water Staining – Exposure to minerals and environmental conditions can result in surface spots or build-up.
- Patina Formation – Over time, anodised aluminium may develop a natural patina, which does not affect performance.
Outdoor & Upholstery Fabrics (Axroma®, Sunbrella®, Texteline, Warwick®)
Natural Characteristics
- Colour & Texture Variation – Variations in dye lots can result in slight colour differences.
- Fabric Density & Tensile Strength – Material stretch and compression are normal over time.
- Pilling Propensity – Some fabrics may experience minor pilling, which is a natural occurrence in woven textiles.
- Abrasion Resistance – Friction from use may result in gradual wear patterns.
- Colour Fastness – Prolonged UV exposure may cause fading or slight colour shifts over time.
- Static Electricity – Certain fabrics may generate static build-up, particularly in dry environments.
- Scent – Some materials may retain a slight manufacturing scent, which dissipates with time.
Leather (Full-Aniline, Semi-Aniline, Corrected Grain, PU Leather)
Natural Characteristics
- Grain & Texture Variation – Leather is a natural product, and each hide has unique markings.
- Colour & Thickness Variation – Differences in grain structure may result in subtle texture variations.
- Vein Lines, Wrinkles & Neck Creases – These are natural features of genuine leather.
- Fire-Branding & Scars – Small healed scars and natural imperfections contribute to authenticity.
- Stretch Marks & Insect Bites – These are part of the leather’s natural history and do not affect durability.
- Scent – Genuine leather has a distinctive smell, which will diminish over time.
- Patina Development – Over time, leather develops a natural patina, enhancing its aesthetic.
Ceramic
Natural Characteristics
- Colour & Shade Variation – Ceramic surfaces may exhibit minor variations in tone and grain patterns.
- Brittleness – While durable, ceramic surfaces can chip or crack if subjected to force.

Natural Characteristics
- Grain & Colour Variation – Each piece of timber has a unique grain and shade variation.
- Texture Inconsistencies – Knots, mineral streaks, and other markings are normal characteristics of natural wood.
- Expansion & Contraction – Wood may expand or contract slightly due to temperature and humidity.
- Patina & Weathering – Outdoor exposure may result in natural silvering or changes in tone.
- Surface Imperfections – Small cracks or checking may appear over time but do not affect structural integrity.
Wicker & PE Rattan
Natural Characteristics
- Colour & Texture Variation – Synthetic wicker may have subtle variations in texture and weave.
- Abrasion & Surface Wear – Prolonged use may result in minor fraying or scuffing.
- UV Exposure – Over time, slight fading or discolouration may occur in extreme conditions.
Glass (Tempered, Frosted, Clear)
Natural Characteristics

- Edge Variations – Edges may have slight inconsistencies due to cutting and polishing.
Stainless Steel
Natural Characteristics
- Grain & Colour Variation – Stainless steel may have minor differences in grain patterns.
- Surface Blemishes & Teastaining – Prolonged exposure to salt air may result in teastaining (surface rusting), which can be cleaned.
- Abrasion & Scratching – While highly durable, scuffs and scratches may occur over time.
Polyurethane (PU) & Synthetic Materials
