Furnishing the Living Room Step by Step

How To / September 28,2013

Furnishing your living room can be daunting, but it's easy if your break it down into its functions. Given the prevalence of TV and music in our lives, getting your entertainment centre right is a good place to start. Decide whether it will be a low-lying stand, a whole wall unit or something in between.

Once you know what your entertainment area will look like, choose your sofa. Sofas serve so many purposes: seating, comfort, style. Find one that matches not only the look of your entertainment unit, but its size. Choose a fabric that matches your room's look, too. For example, leather will look more modern than fabric. With TV/music and sofa in place, it is simple to fill the rest of the room with bookcases and other storage furniture. One way to add a little impact and interest to the room is with a curio cabinet. It brings life and individuality to a space that is, after all, supposed to reflect you.
