Leather is a unique material. It looks great, but if not looked after properly it can fade and become weak. This is the last thing you want when you've made such an investment. Here are some important care tips to take note of if you have a leather sofa:
Don't use water
It's surprising how many people try to clean their leather lounges the same way they clean the dishes. Soap and water can damage your couch so do not use it.
Invest in a quality leather cleaner
There are so many different options on the market today that you need to find one that is right for your leather. Do your research online to find the right cleaner.
Don't over clean
Leather is a very gentle material. If you use too much elbow grease you are likely to damage the finish. If you are dealing with a difficult mark, use a stronger product rather than amping up the scrubbing.
Keep things at the right temperature
When using any products on the sofa, you don't want it to be too cold or too hot in temperature. Leather is a living material; it's not like polyester, which means it can crack if it dries out. Also if it becomes too wet it can warp or become moldy.
