Making the Most of Limited Space

For youngsters moving out of home for the first time, particularly when moving to dense urban environments, it's not always possible to find a place with lots of space. Thankfully there are plenty of ways to maximise the usefulness of what little space there is without compromising on essential features. A functional workspace is an essential feature in any dwelling, and there are plenty of ways to build one in without taking up too much room. Try a drop-front desk with enough room to store books and stationery while not in use. Simply fold the front out when it's time for taking care of paperwork.
Murphy beds apply the same concept of foldaway function to a sleeping space. Fold it out during the night for a good rest, and fold it away into the wall during the day to maximize available space. Taking care of storage is crucial in a small living environment, so the closet plays an important role. Consider installing some extra shelves to keep shirts and trousers neatly folded away.
