Tips For Cleaning Leather Sofas

Care and Cleaning / October 20,2013

When you invest in a leather sofa you want to ensure that it remains well looked after for many years to come. It's easy for leather sofas to become dirty and stained, but with the right maintenance your couch will look as good as the day you bought it for a long time yet. While leather cleaners are great, there are a few things in the house that you can also use to clean your lounge.

Vacuum cleaner

Vacuuming your sofa is great if it just needs a little dusting off. Make sure you clean under the cushions and under the lounge itself so that dust doesn't begin to accumulate.

Baby wipes

Using 'sensitive? baby wipes is wonderful on leather. If you wipe over it with one of these you'll find your lounge will gleam afterwards. Just make sure you use the very gentle wipes that don't contain anything that could damage the leather.

Hairspray

Have an ink stain on your sofa? Hairspray is marvelous on ink stains! Before you start spraying it on, test it on a small patch at the back of your sofa. Not all hairsprays are created equal.

Nail polish remover

You must use the non-acetone nail polish removers for this trick. Gently dab the remover on individual stains that have been difficult to remove. Once the stain has been lifted, use a damp cloth to get rid of any excess nail polish remover. Once again, test your nail varnish remover first on the back of the couch to make sure it's ok.
