HOW TO CLEAN POWDER COATED ALUMINIUM

  1. Remove all objects and items before cleaning
  2. Wipe away any light dust and particles with a dry microfiber cloth
  3. Wipe off any sticky marks or stubborn spots with a damp wet cloth or soft-bristled brush
  4. Prepare a mild cleaning solution consisting of approximately 2 tablespoons of ph-neutral soap with 1 litre of water
  5. Apply to a clean microfibre cloth and wipe down all surfaces
  6. Rinse off thoroughly with clean water to remove any excess detergent
  7. Use a soft, clean cloth to wipe down all surfaces and allow to dry naturally
  8. Repeat the cleaning process every 3-6 months, depending on the furniture’s level of use

ADDITIONAL TIPS

  • Wipe down surfaces regularly to prevent buildup of excess dirt, dust, salt or chlorine, which may lead to spotting and staining
  • Don’t hose down your furniture during periods of extreme heat; sudden temperature changes may cause stress on a material which can weaken it long-term
  • Prolonged outdoor use in extreme weather conditions is not recommended
  • Cover furniture when not in use to prevent damage from inclement weather, leaf mulch, sap and wildlife
  • Consider furniture placement and avoid areas that are likely to cause excessive build up of corrosive materials
  • Do not under any circumstances use strong solvents such as thinners or solutions containing chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters or ketones
  • Abrasive cleaners or cutting compounds should not be used
  • Interpon Powder Coatings recommends nothing stronger than white spirits to assist with stubborn stains such as hard water spots / calcium stains
  • When using white spirits, cleaning should be carried out in shade and during cooler temperatures using a soft cloth and gentle wiping only
  • It is also recommended that prior to use, a small non-visible area of the powder coated article be tested to ensure that no visual color change or damage will occur, particularly with bright and deep colors

HOW TO REMOVE HARD-WATER STAINS

Due to it’s high mineral content, hard-water scaling may occur as a result of exposure to the elements, or lack of routine maintenance. Try the following steps to removing calcium deposits and hard water spots.

  1. Prepare a solution of equal parts white vinegar and distilled water
  2. Spray the solution directly on to the stain and allow to sit for 10-15 minutes
  3. Rinse thoroughly with a clean, wet cloth to ensuring all residue has been removed
  4. If the scaling has only been slightly lifted, repeat steps 2 and 3 to allow the stain more time to soak
  5. If successful, allow to air dry completely before use, otherwise proceed to the next step
  6. Prepare a paste consisting of 3 parts baking soda, 1 part distilled water and a few drops of white vinegar
  7. Apply the paste to a clean sponge and gently scrub the stain
  8. Apply more paste directly on to the stain and allow to sit for 15 minutes
  9. Rinse thoroughly with a clean, wet cloth to ensuring all residue has been removed
  10. Re-apply the paste for a second time if required
