Seven Tips to Spice Up a Casual Living Room
How To / September 17,2013The old formal living room of yesteryear has given way to a more casual space, but a casual living room can still look 'wow' with these seven tips:
- Keep furniture and curtains neutral - This grounds the room, and swapping colourful accents is an inexpensive way to give you a new room down the track.
- Make your own eclectic gallery - Eclectic goes great with casual. Anything you love, from your great-uncle's landscape to a thrift store plate, can hang on the wall together. Keep frames in a similar colour and style to unite disparate items.
- Lamps make a fun statement - Search thrift shops for something unusual, or even DIY a lamp from a vase you paint yourself in a wild design.
- Stamp your style on the room with your favourite colours - Pick one as the main hue, and use it to tie everything else together.
- A living thing should have a presence in every room - For example, you could use a piece of coral, some flowers or even arrangement of twigs.
- Round or hexagonal shapes soften a room.
- Keep it comfy! Pillows, a throw, and a big fluffy floor rug say ?Come in and sit down?.
